Newsletter: CEIR celebrates ‘triumph of public service’

November 2024 2 min read by The CEIR Team

We knew going into this election that it would be very close, and that about half the nation would be extremely disappointed. But we also confirmed that our election system, overseen by hundreds of thousands of public servants of both parties, is resilient and secure, capable of delivering clear and verifiable results even under tremendous stress. Despite years of disinformation and attacks, despite efforts from foreign adversaries and domestic grifters to undermine our confidence, our electoral system persevered. Nationwide, we saw the second most ballots cast and the second highest turnout rate in the last 100 years in 2024 (second only to 2020), and despite bomb threats and other isolated incidents, the election was conducted with few problems – even lines were manageable, thanks to the fact that around 55% of all voters cast their ballots early. While it’s understandable that the nation is divided about the political outcomes, we can unite around the achievement of our election officials, who once again demonstrated the resilience of American democracy. There will be much work to do in the coming years, to guard against future attacks on the institutions and guardrails that protect the rights of American citizens and our republican system of government, and CEIR will be there, with our sleeves rolled up to do the heavy lifting, with your support. But we enter these next several years with a strong democratic foundation, thanks to the men and women who serve us as election officials. As we head into this week of Thanksgiving, it is to them that I give thanks.

Yours,
