Dale McGowan is content lead for CEIR, overseeing all aspects of content strategy and execution.

After a first career as a college professor and orchestra conductor, Dale published books on nonreligious life and produced podcasts about music, parenting, mortality, hiking, elections, wonder, and the human story.

After serving as US communications coordinator for Nonviolent Peaceforce, a global civilian peacekeeping organization, Dale launched Foundation Beyond Belief, a national nonprofit organizing charitable giving, volunteering, disaster response, and international service in the nonreligious community. In 2021, he co-founded digital media company OnlySky, serving as lead columnist and editor-in-chief.

Dale holds degrees in music and evolutionary anthropology from UC Berkeley.
